2018 Draft Day less than a month away

The 2018 PGBL Draft is less than a month away (Saturday, November 11 at Northwestern Medicine Field). Please arrive at around 12:30pm to get set-up. First pick will be made at 1pm (time subject to change).

To help with draft prep, Bryant has compiled free agent listings. Please double check and verify that players are not on existing rosters. To access the listings, see the Draft Research tab on the 2018 Draft page.

As the 2017 PGBL Draft nears (Sunday, November 6 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium), Paul has graciously compiled his Free Agent listings for the league to use for draft prep. The lists are organized by position and include players who featured in a MLB game in 2016. If a team notices any incorrect listings, please feel free to let Paul know.

2017 Draft - Available Players

Braves take Ethier with first waiver pick

2015 Waiver Draft logo2Outfielder Andre Ethier went to the Boston Braves with the first pick of the 2015 waiver draft. Ethier posted a.270 average with 10 homers for British Columbia in 2014, a year hitting .322 (with 14 blasts) but not qualifying for the batting title.

Ethier led off 12 first-round waiver picks, all but three of whom saw big-league action last season. After Oakland passed Tijuana selected outfielder Coco Crisp, coming off a 26-homer season with Brooklyn.

Cleveland followed by selecting second baseman Gordon Beckham and dropping first baseman Yonder Alonso, who was immediately snagged by Memphis.

Other 2015 qualifiers selected in the first round were shortstop Alexi Amarista (Flagstaff), pitcher Brandon Maurer (London), outfielder Michael Bourn (Vancouver) and catcher Nick Hundley (St. Louis).

With the conclusion of the waiver draft, free agency has opened as teams get ready for the upcoming Spring Training games.


Josh Harrison first off the board in 2015 Draft

Calgary selected third baseman, Josh Harrison, with the first overall pick of the 2015 draft. The Roughnecks acquired the pick in a trade with Boston.

There was lots of movement in the days leading to the Draft, with Twin Cities moving around several times, but ultimately landing Yoan Moncada from Cuba with the third overall pick.

With its three first round picks, Ottawa nabbed first baseman Steve Pearce and starting pitchers Carlos Carrasco and Collin McHugh.

Winter Draft Set

Fifth Third Ballpark will host the 2015 PGBL Winter Draft on Saturday, November 8th for the sixth consecutive year.

Calgary holds the first overall pick after a trade a week ago with Boston that sent the Braves the fourth overall pick (Originally Cleveland’s first round pick) and a second rounder. Calgary also received a third round pick in the deal.

Ottawa is well position in the first round with three picks in the first nine overall.
