Home run trivia 2/28/18

Chicago already has two players with more than 40 home runs this season in Mike Trout (49) and Giancarlo Stanton (45). Who were the only teammates to both hit 50 homers in the same season?

  • Mark McGwire and Troy Glaus.

  • Well done, although since they did it for your team I award you no points.

McGwire led the PGBL with 67 and Glaus tied Barry Bonds for second with 56 for the 2001 Toronto BlueBirds.

  • for the 2001 PGBL Champion Toronto BlueBirds

  • I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

  • Someone better do some fact checking here as another team accomplished this feat in the 90s.

  • Yes, I apologize – I should’ve clarified the question to say since 2000. But McGwire (67) and Albert Belle (56) did it for Memphis in 1999.

Before DMB, Charlotte had Belle (60), Frank Thomas (58) and Matt Williams (57) in 1995.

  • We all look forward to another trivia question in 9 to 12 months.
